Erome - Advances in automotive technology are like a very fast flowing stream of water. No matter how we pay attention, follow it, even try to surpass it, the flow of water is still at the forefront and seems to have no end. Likewise with vehicle technology, we cannot surpass its progress. All we can do is follow, pay attention, and try to adapt to the flow of progress.
How do we adapt to advances in automotive technology? There are many ways we can do this, such as taking part in the timeline of technological progress, continuing to pay attention to the technology so that it is always updated so we can keep up with developments, and making regulations that can adapt our lives to the latest mobility technology. In this last way, the United States (US) adapted to today's automotive technology, until it became part of the daily lives of the people there.
During the phenomenal presidential administration, namely Trump, this time the liberal country updated its rules or regulations regarding autonomous vehicles . In this regulation change, the essence is that unmanned vehicles that do not have mirrors, pedals or steering can now be driven freely on public roads. It's a very bold regulatory change, but the Trump administration team also did it based on the following things.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a document last week considering the need and appropriateness of safety standards for today's autonomous vehicles. In the report, which is called ' Automated Vehicles 3.0 ', it says that previous safety requirements could be an undesirable obstacle to society's innovative work. So in short, the US government itself is aware that its regulations can hinder the progress of people's thinking within the regulatory environment. So the possibility of marketing car products without a steering wheel, pedals or mirrors is getting bigger.
Elaine L. Chao as Minister of the US Department of Transportation herself said that autonomous cars have the potential to reduce the rate of accidents and even deaths on highways throughout the world. Even though currently there are still many cases of accidents involving unmanned cars, this advanced technology can indeed reduce the aspect of human error on the roads. However, this also does not rule out the possibility of ' technology errors ' in the operation of autonomous cars. There are indeed many possibilities that could occur with this technology.
Currently, NHTSA and the US Department of Transportation have not announced a definite time for implementing the latest regulations regarding autonomous cars. However, we can conclude that the gates for the latest mobility technology innovations may finally be wide open, here in the United States. Maybe this is the time for us to enter a new era in the automotive world. We hope that our country can also make regulations that do not limit innovation like this.
With the above regulations, the progress of the automotive industry will be even more rapid and can exceed our dreams. The road for manufacturers operating in the autonomous car segment is also no longer blocked by regulations. Regarding the discussion above, do you have your own opinion?
