9 Most Expensive Cars Made in America

By -

Erome - The United States is the sexiest vehicle market on earth. Almost all world manufacturers are competing to make the best vehicles to conquer Uncle Sam's country, which has an average annual vehicle sales of 7 million units.

What's interesting is that vehicle manufacturers can freely be creative, especially when it comes to creating high-performance vehicles. Not only local American manufacturers, well-known vehicle manufacturers from Europe and Asia also took part. And high-performance vehicles certainly have a correlation with exorbitant selling prices.

Potential buyers of these vehicles never run out in the United States. Starting from Hollywood stars, athletes, politicians to top business people, these exotic vehicles are often used as a means of refreshing themselves or increasing their prestige.

The following are expensive cars that are currently being manufactured and sold in the United States market.

Hennessey Venom GT

One of the most expensive cars made in the United States is the Hennesey Venom GT. Overall, the assembly is not 100% made there. In fact, the Venom GT has a Lotus Exige base which was made in Hethel, England. And then, Hennessey took it to be further refined at their facility in Houston, Texas.

As a result, a vehicle that was originally a small sports car was transformed into a monster, ready to become a competitor to Bugatti and Koenigsegg. The most phenomenal change is equipping the vehicle with a 7.0-liter V8 twin turbo engine which has a power of up to 1,200 hp. The Venom GT is offered at a price of $ 1.1 million or $ 1.2 million for the Spyder version or the equivalent of around Rp. 15 - 16 billion.

Acura NSX

Honda assembles the Acura NSX at their new factory which specializes in creating high-performance vehicles in Marysville, Ohio, United States. Equipped with a 3.5-liter twin turbo hybrid V-6 engine and 9-speed dual clutch transmission, the NSX is made to be very sophisticated, especially in reaching maximum speeds. This supercar is offered starting at $157,800 or can be upgraded as desired with an estimated price of up to $200,000 or the equivalent of IDR 2 to 3 billion.

Dodge Viper ACR

The normal version of the Dodge Viper is already a vehicle made by a local factory which is quite expensive in the United States with a price tag of $90,000 or around Rp. 1.2 billion.

However, if this is not enough, the highest Dodge variant is available, namely the Viper ACR, which is offered starting from $118,000 to close to $150,000 or the equivalent of IDR 1.6 - 2.1 billion.

The Viper is produced directly at the Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) factory in Detroit. The latest news is that this version will soon be no longer produced. A new Viper model is in the works and it's unlikely to be offered any cheaper than the previous model.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GLS63

When it comes to SUVs, Mercedes Benz never seems to think about making them in Germany. For example, the G-Class is made in Austria and the R-Class is assembled at AM General in Indiana. The GLE and GLS are made at the Daimler factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States.

If you enter the AMG area, of course the selling price will be high. This crossover duo is priced at almost $100,000 each for the GLE63 and the GLS63 starts at $125,000 - $140,000 or the equivalent of IDR 1.7 - 1.9 billion.

Not only Mercedes Benz, BMW is also a German manufacturer that produces crossovers in the United States. BMW makes the BMW X5 and BMW X6 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The M version, which is the highest specification, is offered on the X5 and X6. Each is priced from $100,000 to more than $120,000 or around IDR 1.6 billion.

Tesla P90D

Since its debut in 2010, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has offered its products at prices starting at $109,000 or IDR 1.5 billion. This means that getting behind the wheel of a vehicle produced at the former GM and Toyota joint venture in Freemont, California is not cheap.

As time went by, Tesla then launched a more affordable version for the United States public by launching the Sand

Model But if you are interested in a higher specification model, there is the Tesla P90D. This sedan model car is offered from $96,400 to more than $100,000 or up to IDR 1.3 billion depending on features and equipment.

Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac has always been a vehicle that symbolizes luxury in the United States. The latest version is the Cadillac CTS-V, a high performance sedan. Produced in Lansing, Michigan, this car is offered at a price range of $85,000 to a maximum of $100,000 or the equivalent of IDR 1.3 billion depending on the completeness of the features.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is the successor to one of America's Sweet Hearts. Yes, from time to time the Corvette has always been loved, especially by the people of the United States who are crazy about speed.

However, there is a relatively high price for bringing it into the garage. The cheapest Corvette on offer starts at $80,000 or around IDR 1 billion less for the Z06 variant. If you want a higher performance package, consumers can choose the Z07 and the C7.R-edition version is offered for around $100,000 or almost IDR 1.4 billion.

New Ford GT

Offered at a price of $450,000 or more than IDR 6 billion, the New Ford GT is the most expensive locally produced vehicle sold in the United States. However, what is unique is that this super car has a production process that is quite complicated, namely moving from several places.

Starting from assembly by Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Norwalk, Ohio which then continued in Michigan, engine assembly in Romeo, painting in Saleen and then finishing in Wixom. Not to forget, this vehicle also went through the production process at Multimatic, a vehicle manufacturer in Ontario, Canada.  EROME
