Every vehicle certainly has several important components, one of which is the CDI. This component is useful for the ignition system in vehicles. Having a minimalist shape is very suitable for motorbike engines that have a small space.

To support maximum performance, the CDI is equipped with various components such as a battery, CDI unit, voltage converter, pulse igniter, ignition coil and also spark plugs. For Otolovers who want to know more about CDI, let's look at the review below. Quoted from the official Suzuki Indonesia page, the following is information about CDI.

Motor CDI Function

As an important motor component , the main function of the CDI is to regulate the spark that comes from the spark plug so that it can be used by the fuel that has been compressed in the piston.

Not only that, this component also has a big influence on the motorbike ignition system to regulate its performance to get optimal results. Maximum results can occur when the engine produces heat. This is caused by combustion which causes a chemical reaction and is converted into heat so that it becomes mechanical energy for the motor.

With that, the CDI's job is not just to provide ignition, but is useful for maintaining the speed of a motorbike. In order for motorbike speed to be optimal, you must use the right type of CDI and good quality.

How CDI Works in Motorbikes

So, if Otolovers already know the function of this CDI, of course they are also curious about how this component works, right? To find out how CDI works, let's look carefully at how CDI works.

At CDI itself the system is divided into two types, namely simple and modern. The modern version of course has more durable quality because it is no longer equipped with platinum but uses a pulse igniter, with the function of sending a PWM signal according to the time when the machine is used.

On the other hand, the simple variant still uses platinum as a current carrier in the capacitor. This component will start working when the Otolover activates the motor contacts, this stage will then create a battery current flow from the CDI.

The stage that the current will go through is passing through a converter which then increases the battery voltage to 300 volts. However, at this stage the engine is still not running and the current is blocked in the capacitor. But when the engine is on, a signal will be sent to the PWM from the pick up coil.
